Alcohol Suspected In Billings Car Accident

Intoxicated drivers are a major cause of serious injury and death on Montana Roads. Billings police believe a drunk driver was the cause of a car accident at the intersection of Rehberg Lane and Grand Avenue last Sunday evening. The crash sent two individuals to the hospital.

According to law enforcement, the accident occurred when a silver Dodge pickup tried to turn left from Grand onto Rehberg. Police say the driver of the pickup failed to yield the right-of-way to a Honda Accord in the opposite lane. The Honda crashed into the passenger side of the pickup, causing it to roll over onto its side. After it rolled the pickup was involved in a minor collision with another Honda Accord.

A young female passenger in the Honda involved in the initial crash was transported to a local hospital, as was the driver of the pickup. Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the wreck, although they are waiting for blood alcohol test results from the Montana State Lab before filing charges.

When a person is injured in an auto accident caused by a drunk driver they have the right to sue that driver for damages, including medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost income. The insurance company for the negligent driver will be responsible for all damages, up to the limits of the policy. In some cases it is also possible to sue a bar or other establishment that served alcohol to the drunk driver, if it can be shown the person served was already obviously intoxicated. An experienced personal injury attorney can advise an accident victim as to their legal rights and help them recover compensation for their loss.
