Recovering Compensation For The Injured
in Billings, Montana

Head-on collision in northwest Montana injures 2

A head-on crash at high speed is one of the most dangerous kinds of auto accidents. Two people involved in one such crash in Flathead County recently were fortunate to escape with their lives. The two victims were injured but they were listed in stable condition.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the car accident happened at around 2:45 a.m. on a Saturday on U.S. Highway 93 North. A woman from Kalispell was driving south on the highway when for unknown reasons she crossed the center line. She collided with an off-duty sheriff's deputy who was traveling in the opposite direction. There were no passengers in either vehicle. The two drivers were taken to a hospital in Kalispell.

The MHP's accident investigation was still ongoing at the time this post was written. Investigators are reportedly trying to determine if alcohol or speeding were factors in the accident.

When a person is injured by a negligent driver, they have the right to bring a civil lawsuit to recover damages for their injuries. Negligence is a legal term which simply means the failure to exercise reasonable care. Failing to maintain one's lane, and crossing the center line when opposing traffic is present, are examples of negligence which will undoubtedly be raised in this case. Once negligence is established, the issue becomes what damages the injured victim is entitled to. In a typical case the victim can recover compensation for medical expenses, loss of income due to lost time at work, disability, and pain and suffering. An experienced personal injury lawyer can evaluate a victim's case and make sure they get everything they are entitled to under the law.
