A Flathead County commissioner was cited for a right of way violation after a recent accident on Montana Highway 40. On the morning of April 24, the Commissioner had allegedly started to pull out onto the highway from a side road in his 2006 GMC pickup. He started to reverse back when he saw a late model Ford pickup coming towards him. Unfortunately he didn’t get out of the way in time, and the two trucks collided.
Both pickups were totaled in the resulting crash. According to a news report, the driver of the Ford truck suffered minor injuries and was picked up at the scene by family members. The Commissioner was uninjured.
So-called minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident can have long-term consequences. It is not unusual for a person in a car accident to only feel shaken up on the day of the accident, but find themselves in terrible pain the next day. In other cases, it may take days or weeks for the injury to fully manifest itself. This is particularly true in the case of injuries to the muscles, ligaments and tendons – known as soft tissue injuries.
A person injured in a car accident caused by negligence on the part of another driver has the right to bring a personal injury lawsuit and recover damages. It is a good idea for anyone who has suffered an injury in a motor vehicle accident, no matter how minor it may seem, to be checked out by a doctor.
