A serious car accident can happen to anyone, and its effects can be long-term for those involved. Without warning, an ordinary errand in the car or pickup turns into a nightmare of wrecked vehicles, serious injury and possibly lifelong disability or even death. Unfortunately, serious car accidents happen on a regular basis around the United States, and the Billings area is no exception.
A recent intersection collision near Laurel in Yellowstone County resulted in five people being treated for injuries. The crash occurred on the afternoon of Friday, October 9, on Highway 212. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a Chevy pickup truck was headed north on the highway when a Volkswagen Jetta pulled out from Thiel Road onto the highway. Three people in the pickup were injured, as were two occupants of the Volkswagen.
When an auto accident occurs at an intersection the issue of liability will usually turn on which driver had the right of way. If one driver failed to yield the right of way, that driver may be found negligent. A negligent driver who causes an accident can be held liable for any resulting injuries, in their own vehicle as well as the one they collided with.
